Many exchanges are supported by Yahoo Finance and SwingTrader subscribers sometimes have difficulty with what suffix to use with a symbol when they first subscribe. For example all UK stocks have the suffix .L (dot L) after the symbol. So Bellway (BWY) UK becomes BWY.L whereas US stocks do not use a suffix.
To find which suffix to use for other exchanges use the Symbol Lookup link in SwingTrader and this will navigate you to the Yahoo Finance website. Look at the bottom (footer) of the page and you will see a list of countries. Click on the country you are going to trade (where the exchange is) and you will be taken to a page dedicated to that country. You will find that when you do a search for a symbol on that page the correct suffix will be displayed for you.
For example on the Australia and NZ page if you search for Rio Tinto you will be given the symbol RIO.AX (ASX stocks have the suffix .AX (dotAX).
All Indices start with the symbol ^ at the beginning. |
