Australian (ASX) Watch List

I would like to develop a larger watch list for you guys plus any additional tips for trading the ASX market. I do not trade it myself so I rely on your help in order to pass on information and help others.

Please help your fellow Australian SST traders by suggesting stocks and I will post them up on this page together with anything else you wish to see.

CMC
Brian reported that CMC (a company that does spread betting and CFD's) now has a new charting package which allows you to select 50MA and 8ADX to trade 22 stocks that are in the UK watch list. Better than the late night US market.

Spread betting
IG Index (who I use) have branch(es) in Australia and Finspreads (who I also use), have opened a branch in Sydney (August 06). WorldSpreads & Ethical Spreads (see offer to SST Traders) will happily open an account for Aus residents and in these days of internet trading and credit cards it really doesn't matter what country the company is based in. They allow accounts to be operated in Aus $.

Please remember to select Short Swing Trading from the dropdown in WorldSpreads or Ethical Spreads in order to get the offer and email me about hints and tips if you open a Finspreads account.

"Direct Market Access" CFD trading is now available for the ASX with the following
3 major players: (Thanks for the Info Penny)

Etrade

MAN Financial

Macquarie
http://personal.macquarie.com.au/personal/products/shares/cfd/cfd_detail.htm

Dividend Dates
Thanks to Val (SST trader), the following site provides upcoming dividend dates for shares traded on the ASX. http://www.incomeinvestor.com.au/index.php

Software
For charting software for ASX take a look at Insight Trader. A demo can be downloaded from www.insighttrading.com.au. Val (SST trader) highly recommends this package which has a very good system search facility. Val also recommends End of Day data from Dial & Chart www.dialchart.com.au/default.htm. Both these services cost, but you only get what you pay for and he says both these services provide excellent product and support.

I believe that www.prorealtime.com allow access to the ASX exchange and it is very good free software.

ASX 200 Index
The ASX 200 Index trades really well - see the Indices page.

Weekly charts
Donald has reported having "solid results" with 24% gains over 4 months using weekly charts with SST when trading ASX. Let me know if you have had similar success.

Symbol Suffixes and Look Up
With eSignal add suffix - ASX after the symbols shown. Example CRS-ASX

Yahoo symbol look up: http://au.finance.yahoo.com Use suffix .ax Example CRS.AX

Google do not have a seperate look up page but you can use http://finance.google.co.uk/finance and enter the symbol with the dot AX suffix (as Yahoo)

AUSTRALIAN STOCK WATCH LIST

PLEASE LET ME KNOW when you come across additional stocks - I know they are out there.
Also let me know if any of the ones listed below should be removed.
I do not trade ASX myself and rely on you to keep me and other Aus traders informed.

This is YOUR page - please help me to make it as valuable as possible.

REMEMBER: If you are using SST SwingTrader
you need to add .AX (dot AX) after the symbol below.
Also, I do not guarantee or monitor the tradability of the symbols listed. These are purely passed on from other
traders and the tradability can change over time. If you find a symbol which optimises poorly please let me
know and I will remove it.

Many thanks to Chris Kelley for helping me update this list. April 10
